Pumpkin Tower!

Mrs. Frangiamore's 3rd grade class was challenged to build a tower that was strong enough to hold up a mini pumpkin. They could only use 8 popsicle sticks, 4 wide straws, tape, string, and scissors. Everyone was able to build a base and platform but a few groups ran out of time before figuring out a way to attach it. Some students were clever in their design and cut straws to use as "beams" to attach to a triangular-shaped frame. One group even had extra time and were challenged to create a "lift" system for the pumpkin... and they did just that with just duct tape and string! All in all, it was a great learning process for the students and they can take what they learned {what worked and what didn't} with them to their next building challenge!
