Witches Brew Density Stew

"Witches Brew Density Stew" was a fun {and a little bit messy} experiment for Mrs. Perry's Kindergarteners. The students were given the task of making layers with liquids of different densities. They were asked to think about what ingredient would go first, then as they poured the next liquid, they had to make a prediction if it would be heavier or lighter {high density or low density}. They added some more ingredients to their Witches Brew and had to guess if it would sink or float- candy corns, glitter, some plastic spiders, and gummy worms. They had fun watching how the liquids made gooey layers. Next, we added some Alka-Seltzer tablets to watch our Witches Brew bubble and fizz! Then we turned the lights out and watched our Spooky Stew glow! We could still see all of our layers in the blacklight! At the end of the activity, we poured all of our goblets in to a big jar and mixed with glow sticks and had a chance to touch some Zombie Eyes (eggs with their shells dissolved). It was the perfect creepy crawly, ewie gooey activity for the day before Halloween weekend!

Have fun trying this at home, too! Most of the ingredients can be found in your kitchen!
